Projects, Strategy & Systems Lead

I help organisations design and run projects that work in uncertain conditions and learn as they go.

  • Project direction – getting programmes from idea to delivery in complex environments.

  • Systems practice – analysing dynamics, boundaries & perspectives so options and strategy fit messy realities.

  • Funding & bids – turning ambitions into clear, fundable proposals that support purpose in challenging contexts.

Project DirectionI direct research, evaluation and delivery projects in complex public contexts. I help teams find the core insight, then take practical next steps.Selected work includes:

  • Regional economic research using ONS data, public reporting and GIS mapping to shape strategic plans for the South Downs National Park.

  • Impact evaluation for grassroots green grants scheme to inform future investment for the West Midlands Combined Authority.

  • Developing and delivering inclusive business support for female entrepreneurs in East Sussex in response to the Rose Review.

Systems PracticeMessy realities, contested ideas and multiple perspectives translated into evidence and options. I help teams design strategy that fits their context; then evaluate, test and learn.Selected work includes:

  • Directing public consultation and mapping analysis for Sussex Bay, a long-term, large-scale marine restoration programme. Deliberating with communities and translating contested values into insight that informed strategic and funding decisions.

  • Leading researchers to evaluate programmes helping people back into work across London. Combining fieldwork and event design to support on-the-go delivery adaptation and cross-systems learning.

  • Clarifying staff development for a 500-person accountancy firm. Analysing dynamics, defining roles and setting up coherent approaches to communication and measurement.

Funding & BidsGreat, well-designed ideas get resourced. I help organisations define purpose and operations, to match what they do well to funding opportunities.Selected work includes:

  • Leading the development of Merton's successful London Borough of Culture proposal. Working across the council and partners to develop a cultural strategy alongside an ambitious bid.

  • Designing and delivering a regional capital grant programme for SMEs in East Sussex, combining investment with support to clarify growth strategy and build organisational resilience.

  • Working with cultural organisations to adapt to financial uncertainty, and sustain funding for growth and development. Designing systems and advisory support to improve bid quality and understand funder needs.
